Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band

Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band is a traditional Brass Band which performs concerts, attends contests and plays at carnivals, fetes, parades and events, helping others to raise funds for charity. The Band is self funded, relying on fundraising events and donations from local organisations and generous support of people in the Okehampton area.

The Band has a busy calendar of events each year, so if you would like the band at your functions an early request is wise.

Okehampton Band is always keen to welcome new players young and not so young.

The band meets on Mondays and Thursdays in the band room in the centre of Okehampton, starting at 7.30pm.  Instruments can be provided if necessary.

If you would like more information please contact the Band Secretary Julie Hood on 01837 52806 or  ‘phone or Email us.

NEW PLAYERS NEEDED - if you have played before and would like to play again then please contact Julie Hood on 01837 52806.

Apologies that the website has been out of action since August due to technical difficulties, but we are back up and running now, ready for Christmas.

The Band has had a busy Summer, and there has also been a number of changes of personnel within the Band. Bob Julian has now taken over as Musical Director, with Richard Beardon returning to play front row cornet having been Musical Director since 2012. Big thanks to Richard for leading the Band during this period.

Val Isaac has left the Band and will be much missed within the Band.

Lauren  (solo horn) and Mary (trombone) have joined the Band which is good news.
